My niece once said to me, "We're going to need all the purple in the world." We were doing some coloring. She was 4 or 5 years old. I was 23 years old or so at the time. I was inspired by her desire for endless amounts of purple in this simple task of coloring. It brought a little wonder and awe into my world. So I wrote a song around the lyric, "We're going to need all the purple in the world." The rest was history.
It was one of the first 3 songs I ever recorded. I lost the first 2 songs I ever recorded. Those 2 songs were entitled "Monkey Business" and "Magic." And, lo and behold, the original recording of "Immortal Tortoise" lived up to its name and still exists in my back catalog. Go and have a listen to "Volume 1" in my discography to hear those ancient tunes from the era some call the "Aughts. That was 10 plus years ago.
I re-recorded it to see if there was still some magic in that composition. You be the judge. Did you find any magic in the sonic canvas of this tune? I hope among hope you did, and I hope you can find wonder and awe in your everyday goings-on.
